Sodium lignosulfonate is a natural polymer with strong dispersibility. It has different degrees of dispersibility due to the difference in molecular weight and functional group. It is a surface active substance that can be adsorbed on various solid particles. On the surface, metal ion exchange can be carried out, and because of the existence of various active groups on its tissue structure, it can produce condensation or hydrogen bonding with other compounds. At present, sodium lignosulfonate products have been widely promoted and applied in the chemical industry, construction, ceramics, mineral powder metallurgy, pesticide, petroleum, carbon black, refractory materials, coal water slurry dispersant and other industries at home and abroad.

Lignosulfonate, also known as lignosulfonate, is a by-product of papermaking. Wood is mainly composed of two materials-carbohydrates (such as cellulose and hemicellulose) and lignin. Lignin molecules are complex and diverse and difficult to decompose. It is also undesirable in most papers, so the lignin is extracted by cooking the wood material under pressure with sulfite chemicals. This process produces wine containing lignosulfonates and other fermentable materials. The liquor is purified by fermentation and the alcohol produced is removed. The chemicals used produce various lignosulfonates, such as sodium lignosulfonate, calcium lignosulfonate or magnesium lignosulfonate.
