Formic acid is a strong acid among organic acids, and has a strong reducing ability. It is a by-product of coking. The effect of adding formic acid is better than adding mineral acids such as H2SO4 and HCl, because mineral acid only has an acidifying effect, and formic acid can not only lower the pH value of the silage, but also inhibit plant respiration and undesirable microorganisms (clostridium, bacillus and Certain Gram-negative bacteria) ferment.

In addition, formic acid can be decomposed into CO2 and CH4, which are non-toxic to livestock during the digestion process of silage and rumen, and formic acid itself can also be absorbed and utilized. The silage made by adding formic acid has bright green color, fragrance and high quality, and the loss of protein decomposition is only 0.3-0.5, while it is 1.1-1.3 in general silage.

As a result of adding formic acid to alfalfa and clover silage, the crude fiber is reduced by 5.2~6.4, and the reduced crude fiber is hydrolyzed into oligosaccharides, which can be absorbed and utilized by animals, while the general silage crude fiber is only reduced by 1.1~1.3. In addition, adding formic acid silage can reduce the loss of carotene, vitamin C, calcium, phosphorus and other nutrients in the silage than ordinary silage.

Calcium Formate Usage:

1. For architecture. Quick curing agent, lubricant and early strengthening agent for cement. Suitable for building mortar and all kinds of concrete, accelerate cement hardening, shorten the setting time, especially in winter construction, avoid low temperature setting speed too slow. Demoulding fast, so that cement as soon as possible to improve the strength into use. The dosage of calcium formate is about 0.5~1.0% / ton concrete, and the addition amount is 2.5%. The amount of calcium formate increased gradually with the decrease of temperature, and a significant early strength effect was achieved even with the application of 0.3-0.5% in summer.
