The redispersible latex powder modifies the mortar by forming a film with higher adhesion between the cement slurry and the aggregate and blocking the voids in the mortar. Cement hydration and polymer film formation proceed simultaneously to form an interpenetrating network structure in which cement slurry and polymer film are intertwined. Polymers with reactive groups will chemically react with the silicate on the surface of the solid calcium hydroxide to improve the bonding between the cemented product and the aggregate, thereby improving the performance of the mortar.

Application Of Redispersible Polymer Powder:

Internal and external wall putty powder, tile adhesive, tile jointing agent, dry powder interface agent, external wall external thermal insulation mortar, self-leveling mortar, repair mortar, decorative mortar, waterproof mortar and external thermal insulation dry-mixed mortar. In the mortar, it is to improve the brittleness and high elastic modulus of the traditional cement mortar, and give the cement mortar better flexibility and tensile bonding strength to resist and delay the generation of cement mortar cracks.


Because the polymer and mortar form an interpenetrating network structure, a continuous polymer film is formed in the pores, which strengthens the bond between the aggregates and blocks some of the pores in the mortar. Therefore, the hardened modified mortar has better performance than cement mortar. There is a great improvement.


The Role Of Redispersible Polymer Powder In Mortar:


1. Improve the compressive strength and flexural strength of mortar.
2. The addition of latex powder increases the elongation of the mortar, thereby improving the impact toughness of the mortar, and also gives the mortar a good stress dispersion effect.


3. Improve the bonding performance of the mortar. The bonding mechanism relies on the adsorption and diffusion of macromolecules on the sticky surface. At the same time, the rubber powder has a certain degree of permeability. Together with the cellulose ether, it can fully infiltrate the surface of the base material, so that the surface performance of the base layer and the new plaster is close, thereby improving Adsorbability greatly increases its performance.

4. Reduce the elastic modulus of the mortar, improve the deformability, and reduce the cracking phenomenon.
5. Improve the wear resistance of the mortar. The improvement of abrasion resistance is mainly due to the presence of a certain amount of glue on the surface of the mortar. The rubber powder plays a bonding role. The net membrane structure formed by the rubber powder can pass through the holes and cracks in the cement mortar. Improve the bonding of the base material and the cement hydration product, thereby improving the wear resistance.

Composition Of Redispersible Polymer Powder:

a. Polymer resin: Located in the core part of the rubber powder particles, it is also the main component of the redispersible latex powder.
b. Additives (internal): together with the resin, it plays the role of modifying the resin.
c. Additives (external): In order to further expand the performance of the redispersible latex powder, another material is added.
d. Protective colloid: A layer of hydrophilic material wrapped on the surface of redispersible latex powder particles. Most of the protective colloids of redispersible latex powder are polyvinyl alcohol.
e. Anti-caking agent: fine mineral filler, mainly used to prevent rubber powder from agglomerating during storage and transportation and to facilitate the flow of rubber powder (pour out from paper bags or tankers).
