Calcium lignosulfonate is a derivative of lignin, and its modification to prepare surfactants has flourished in recent years and has made a series of important progress. Calcium Lignin preparation:


Lignin is insoluble in neutral liquids and organic solvents. To produce lignin, there are two most commonly used methods to separate cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin; and then to obtain calcium lignosulfonate from (lignin-containing) pulp waste liquor. 1. Sulfite Pulp Process This is the treatment of wood chips with a well-known hot acid solution of calcium acid sulfite, during which part of the lignin is sulfonated and at the same time the hydrolysis of the bonds takes place. Hydrolysis enables lignosulfonate molecules to dissolve in the Chemicalbook slurry, along with other soluble (such as sugars) products, whose solubility is essentially fixed. 2. Kraft pulp (i.e., sulfate) method Another method is to treat wood chips with a hot strong alkaline solution, the pH is controlled in the range of 13~14, and all the lignin in the resulting mother liquor is dissolved, while the hemicellulose Only partially dissolved in it. The dissolved product can be modified to obtain products with different properties and various specifications, so that it has broad application prospects.
